Economic development interconnected to peace – Vice President

The Vice President Abdulla Jihad, while speaking at an event held to mark the 7th Anniversary of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) stated that the economic development of a country is interconnected to the peace of the nation.

In his speech, the Vice President mentioned that the nation belongs to the people and that the nation needs contribution from all in order to achieve developmental goals. He highlighted that the government has plans for the development and advancement of each and every island. He also stated that the economic development of the country depends on the self-sufficiency of the people and that this can only be achieved through increasing national productivity.

At this ceremony, the vice president awarded the Ranlaari award introduced by MIRA to recognize the tax payers who pay the highest amount of taxes. He also encouraged all MIRA staff to continue their honest and reliable work which has gained the trust of the Maldivian people.
