The Government recently announced a project worth MVR 363 million to develop water and sewerage systems in 4 Islands and water collection and storage systems in another 45 Islands.
A statement from the Ministry of Environment said that this mega project will be carried out under the green climate fund and is scheduled to commence very soon.
Water and sewerage systems will be developed in Raa.Maduvvari, Sh.Foakaidhoo, Baa.Dharavandhoo and HDH.Nolhivaranfaru under this project. The Ministry officials also highlighted that designing of these systems will be finished this month and announcements will be made to seek contractors in September.
The designing and preparations of the other 45 islands’ projects are also underway according to the Ministry of Environment.
The whole project is estimated to be completed before the end of 2018 and the development and quality assessments of water and sewerage systems will be carried out all across Maldives until 2021.
