Three firms of JP Leader Gasim sued for MVR 2 billion

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) files a lawsuit at Civil Court against three companies of JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim seeking USD 129 million.

Under this lawsuit, Villa Holidays is being sued for USD 35 million in lease payments along with fines for land leased for the development of hotels in HDh.Hanimaadhoo. Villa’s Maamenfushi Pvt Ltd is also being sued for the lease payments and fine of approximately USD 77 million for the land leased for resort development.  Another company under Gasim’s Corporate Villa group, Gazeera Pvt Ltd has been sued for USD 17.3 million for G.Dh Gazeera resort development project totaling to over USD 130 million which amounts to about MVR 2 billion.

Gasim’s Villa Shipping and holding company are also undergoing previously filed a lawsuit seeking USD 37 million by MIRA.

Failing to present due payments to the state has left Maamigili MP and JP leader Gasim Ibrahim in hefty debts.

JP leader and oppositional stakeholder Gasim Ibrahim himself is undergoing a criminal trial on bribing lawmakers which have been put on hold due to Gasim’s poor Health condition.
