Chinese Warships in Maldives for a Friendly Visit

A Chinese navy fleet consisting of three war ships arrived in the Maldives on a peace keeping mission by President of China Xi Jinping. The three navy ships – Chang Chun, Jing Zhou, and Chao Hu arrived in Maldives this Sunday morning

Officials of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said that the crews of the three Chinese war ships were given a warm welcome by senior officers and soldiers of MNDF in a special function held in Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

MNDF officials mentioned that several training programs are scheduled to be held by MNDF in association with the Chinese fleet. They also highlighted that several Sports activities and entertainment events will also be conducted in order to boost friendly relations between the two militaries.

Speaking during the function held on board the Chang Chun this Sunday, Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim said the relations between Maldives and China were age-old, and that it needed to be nurtured and strengthened.

There have been rumors going around that the Opposition has been trying to bring on a foreign military coup and seize the government of Maldives. It is also a point in time where oppositional leader Mohamed Nasheed resides in India and has announced various plots against the government of Maldives. However, this friendly visit by the world super power has evidently shown that Maldives has close ties with the international community and that Maldivian government would not be rattled by such rumors.
