Jumhoory Party Leader Gasim Ibrahim who was recently found guilty of bribery and sentenced to three three years in prison, has been approved to go abroad for medical treatment.
Gasim Ibrahim was permitted to go to Singapore to seek medical attention over his deteriorating health by the Maldives Correctional Services (MCS) for a period of one week. Officials from MCS said that Gasim was scheduled to leave to Singapore late last night.
Jumhoory party Leader and Villa group head was undergoing treatment for his heart condition at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) when he was sentenced to 38 months in prison in absentia. The Correctional Services later decided that Gasim Ibrahim would be serving his sentence under house arrest because of his poor health condition.
