President Appoints New Ambassador for Sri Lanka

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom appointed Mohamed Hussain Shareef ( Mundhu ) as the new Ambassador to Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

The letter of appointment was presented to Mohamed Hussain Shareef by President Yameen at a ceremony held in the President’s office Wednesday morning.

The Parliament approved Mohamed Hussein Shareef as Ambassador to Sri Lanka on 23rd August 2017, after the dismissal of the former Ambassador Zahiyaa Zareer.

Mohamed Hussein Shareef was serving as the Ambassador to Japan prior to the nomination as Ambassador to Sri Lanka by the President. He had also served as the Minister of Youth and Sports and as the minister of the President’s Office in the current government. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Foreign Diplomacy.
