Maldives National Defense Force’s (MNDF) helicopter “Kurangi” lands on Usfasgandu Helipad, on the south side of Male’, on Medical transport Wednesday for the first time in history on.
MNDF conducted trials before the use of the helipad officially began last Saturday and successfully completed the first medical transport of a patient from Dhaalu Atoll in light of the results of these tests.
The use of the Usfasgandu helipad has officially started and today alone, two landings took place.
Information Officer of MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim said.
The first medical transfer was a pregnant woman in treatment at the Dhaalu Atoll Hospital who was advised by doctors for emergency transfer to Malé. She was transferred at around 12:30 p.m. The second transfer was a 56-year-old man brought in from GDh. Faresmaathodaa around 5 p.m. Saturday evening.
The emergency medical transfers from the atolls by air were being landed at Velana International Airport prior to this. This successful operation will officially begin transport of patients directly to the capital City, Male’. This, in turn, will also eliminate any obstacles in transportation between Velana International Airport and Male’.
