Cake donors raise over MVR 90,000 for Rohingya Muslims

Cake donors, in association with the International Aid Campaign (IAC), organized and conducted an event on Saturday to raise funds for the help Rohingya campaign.

This fundraising event was held in the Male’, at several locations including the MPL/Customs area, Rasfannu area, Artificial beach and Kudakudhinge Bageecha (children’s park). The event was carried out from 10 am in the morning to 6 pm in the evening on Saturday. Numerous food and beverage items including Cake donors’ specialty cupcakes were sold to raise funds along with some other fun activities as an aid to Rohingya Muslims.

Founder member of Cake Donors, Aishath Sheryn, said that the event raised a sum total of MVR 93,433.50 and USD 278.73. All the funds have now been transferred to the accounts of the IAC to be delivered to Rohingya Muslims in desperate need of our help.

Aishath Sheryn expressed gratitude over the support and contributions given by the people of Male’ for the campaign they conducted on Saturday. She also said that it is their humble request that all Maldivians give their full support to the best of one’s capability to help our brothers and sisters of Rohingya Muslim community.

Cake Donors is a community of cake decorators holding hands for good causes. Cake donors are well known for organizing fundraising events to help those in need. This community was inaugurated in 2016 and has also participated in various telethons and fundraising campaigns carried out in the Maldives throughout the past year.
