President of Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom expressed concern over the lack of adequate action on the Rohingya Crisis by the international community.
President Yameen, in his address to the nation on the occasion of Islamic New Year, said:
“On this occasion, we must never forget that our Muslim brothers and sisters of Rohingya are suffering under the cruel violence of the enemies of Islam and peace”
He Highlighted that it is very unfortunate and sad that the atrocities and violence against the Muslim community if Rohingya are being left out without proper action by the international community and urged the international community to find a way to bring an end to the violence and resolve all matters regarding the Rohingya situation.
In his speech, the President also said that it is very important that we enrich and develop the rightful Islamic faith in the hearts of the youth and young adults of Maldives. He also stressed the importance of holding on to all the teachings of Prophet Mohamed (SAW) and that we should all learn from the stories and events of Hijrah and the Islamic history.
President Yameen urged all Maldivians to study and learn about Islamic History and Hijrah and to acquire the courage to defend and uphold Islam and our nation against anything that comes our way.
