Corrections Seeks Assistance of Police to Bring Gasim Back to Maldives

Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has requested police assistance to return Gasim Ibrahim – convicted business tycoon and leader of Jumhoory Party to Maldives.

Maldives Police Service has confirmed that MCS has requested the authority’s assistance in returning Gasim to Maldives, and declared that it has initiated the task of bringing convicted Jumhoory Party leader and Villa Group head Gasim Ibrahim back to Maldives after his medical leave to foreign expired.

Gasim Ibrahim was given permission to travel to Singapore for medical treatment for a period of 27 days and was ordered to return back to Maldives on the 3rd of October.

Jumhoory party Leader and Villa group head was sentenced to 38 months in prison in absentia. The Correctional Services later decided that Gasim Ibrahim would be serving his sentence under house arrest because of his poor health condition.
