‘Loans are not borrowed to build mansions or for a personal benefit, but to fulfill the citizen’s needs and wishes’, says President Abdulla Yameen.
Speaking at the ceremony to inaugurate the services for clean drinking water in Lhaviyani Atoll Hinnavaru island, President Yameen said that loans have to be taken to fulfill the needs of the youth and make their dreams come true.
“Today, a sick person only has to spend 30 minutes instead of 3 hours to reach their destination in attaining medical services. So why shouldn’t we take loans to further develop the health sector?”
President Yameen said.
The drinking water supply system in Hinnavaru, which uses two plants to produce 80 cubic metres of water per day, was fully funded by the American government, under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The work for the USD 3.8 million project started in December 2015, and all work was completed by May this year.
