The International airport that is being developed in Noonu Atoll Maafaru will be opened with several modern facilities says Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer.
The government has announced that Maafaru airport; funded by United Arab Emirates, will be completed within 6 months after the construction begins.
Currently, the land for the airport has been cleared for construction and some materials for it has been gathered at Maafaru. Minister Moosa Zameer reported that the $60 million project would include a two-kilometre runway and modern facilities.
The airport and city hotel is being funded through non-reimbursable financial aid by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).
