Top Court Revokes its Ruling to Release the 9 Convicts

The Supreme Court of Maldives revoked its ruling to release the 9 convicts  just a while ago.

The Supreme Court Order No. 2018/SC-SJ/01, issued on 1 February 2018 states that the relevant authorities were to set free the opposition leaders including the Ex-President Mohamed Nasheed convicted of terrorism and the Ex-Vice President Ahmed Adheeb convicted for attempting to  assassinate the President of the Maldives. Other convicts include JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim, Former Defense Minister Nazim.

The Supreme Court before this ruling has also reneged on its ruling diminishing the authority of the judicial service commission giving the JSC full authority to investigate on the attempted “judicial coup”.
